I’m Deanna Mather Larson and I live on a ranch in the middle of Western Oregon’s Willamette Valley. My passion is animals and over the first fourteen years of my life on the ranch, dozens of abused and abandoned animals found their way to my ranch. The next many years I got a fast paced, full impact adventure as I learned how to control ten dogs, nine horses, eight cats, six goats, two pigs and two llamas.
I am a professional writer. My magazine articles have been published in Cats & Kittens, Dog & Kennel, Family Motor Coaching, Gardening How-To, The Chronicle of the Horse, Applied Clinical Trials and more. I’m now writing a memoir I call Menagerie Ranch: the Miracles and Mayhem of Animal Rescue.
When I’m not writing you’ll find me chairing a meeting of the Community Veterinary Center, handing out pet food to homeless pets at a Pro-Bone-O clinic, cleaning the stalls in my barn, handing out buckets and bowls of food to the animals, visiting the vet, repairing fences, baling hay, trekking to the feed store (again), and generally managing my own dogs, horses, cats, goats, pigs and llamas.
My husband, Dave, pretty much takes care of himself.
